Throughout the year, I used two questions to guide by investigation. Those questions were: “What are the different ways humans and nature interact?” and, “How can I evoke different emotions through my depictions of nature?” I chose to make oil paintings of landscapes. Using pictures that I took of my favorite places in nature I wanted to explore the many different relationships humans have with nature.

Near the start of the year I made the humans the focus of the pieces, like you can see in my first painting. I then started shifting away from that, and made nature the main focus. As the year went on, I made it so that you could only see nature, as well as the impacts humans have left on the world, like in my piece with the farm. I wanted to focus more on the beauty of nature, and how it can evoke emotion.
